Local Information
Hastings – Will always be associated with that famous battle in history in 1066 when King Harold was defeated by William the Conquerer and thus the history of Britain was changed. Hastings today however is a bustling typically English seaside resort. This old quaint town with its small boat fishing fleet is indeed an attraction for thousands of visitors each year. As you stroll along the streets towards the Rock-a-Nore district of the town, you will pass a distinct row of black tall wooden buildings with daily locally caught fresh fish and shellfish on general sale. There are also many eating places, pubs and restaurants. The visitor centre assists you with the local history. Along the High Street take a look at Star’s cottages, one of which looks like a wedge of cheese?
