Past UK Fossil Live/Open to all Events at Hastings
7th September 2003

INTRODUCTION

Following our sussesful trip during January 2003, we decided to run a UK Fossils Field Trip, open to all lead by the author of the book 'Fossils and Geology of Hastings', Ken Brooks.

View of Rock-A-Nore

This was a day for education of the geology of the area, with Ken Brooks sharing his vast knowledge to all. Those returning to Hastings will certainly know what they are looking at and where to find fossils..

UK Fossils Field Trip

(Iguanodon Footprint in Situ)

Ken Brooks showed UK Fossils and our members, two Iguanodon footprints in Situ. These footprints can still be seen on the beach. For clarity, the toes print has been marked out with chalk (above), but the toe's can clearly be seen indented into the rock.

(Bivalve Droppings)

(Hybodus Tooth - 8mm X 3mm)

UK Fossils took back some samples of a fine sandy bed for research, so far several small Hybodus Teeth have been found along with spines and other small fragments. We are still working on these samples and if any further discoveries are made, will update this page.
